Attention Technology Reporters:
OTTAWA, Canada, Dec. 27 /CNW/ - Namescout.com, sister company of Ottawa-
based Internic.ca, has obtained provisional accreditation from the Australian
Domain Administration (auDA) as one of the first registrars in the newly
competitive .au registration market.
"We are delighted to be among the leading-edge companies participating in
this important evolution of the Australian Internet space," said Rob Hall,
President of both Internic.ca and Namescout.com. "As other countries make the
transition towards a more dynamic and competitive domain name market, they
experience dramatic improvements in the range and quality of services offered
to customers. We are delighted to bring our international experience to this
challenge in Australia."
Internic.ca and Namescout.com have been at the forefront of Internet
development since the earliest days. Internic.ca was Canada's first .ca
accredited registrar and is now Canada's leading .ca registrar. Namescout.com
was recently accredited as the world's first registrar for the brand-new dot-
name domain. CEO Rob Hall was a leader in the two-year process of creating
Canada's new Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), and served as
CIRA's founding Chair. Previously, he served as the founding Vice Chair of the
Canadian Association of Internet Providers.
"Canada and Australia are right at the forefront of global web
development. In the last 30 days, over 7 million Australians and 13 million
Canadians have used the Internet - placing both among the world's top ten
Internet countries," said Hall. "Our experience with the launch of the .ca and
other domain spaces is that the keys to successful domain registration rest in
combining technology know-how with a solid commitment to first-rate customer
service and follow-through - which is what we offer our customers."
Today, Namescout.com and sister company Internic.ca are the world's only
companies accredited by ICANN, the Global Name Registry and CIRA, and
provisionally accredited by auDA. Owned by Ottawa-based Momentous.ca, the
companies serve customers around the globe from offices in North America,
Australia and the Caribbean.
