Attention Business Reporters:
Internic.ca releases new technology that protects
domain name owners' privacy
OTTAWA, Aug. 7 /CNW/ - Today, Rob Hall President and CEO of Internic.ca
announced that his company has created the technology that will ensure more
privacy for domain name owners. Customers who have domain names registered
with Internic.ca can now prevent being "spammed" by companies that mine the
Whois database for e-mail addresses and then sell them to companies seeking to
market to them.
"The technology that we have invented creates a temporary e-mail address
for our customers. These temporary e-mail addresses are then forwarded to the
customers real domain address registered with us making it difficult for
companies to invade the owners' privacy," said Rob Hall.
"It's about privacy," said Hall. "Internic.ca customers can now choose
this feature if they do not wish to be spammed by companies seeking to sell
something to them. It works for all domain name addresses including .ca, .com,
.org, .net, and the new .biz and .info addresses."
Internic.ca is Canada's leading Internet registrar and has been offering
domain name registration services to Canadians since 1998. It is part of the
Momentous.ca family of on-line businesses owned and operated by Rob Hall.
